Meet Our Groomer

Hi, I’m Katelyn! I’m a passionate dog groomer with 4 years of experience and a genuine love for helping dogs look and feel their very best.

I began my grooming journey in Michigan, where I attended the Michigan School of Canine Cosmetology and received my professional grooming training. After completing my training, I continued growing my skills and experience in Texas, where I had the opportunity to work at For the Love of Dogs Pet Boutique and Grooming, a salon recognized as Best Pet Groomer in San Antonio by the San Antonio Current in both 2025 and 2026.

Read more about Katelyn

Over the years, I’ve learned that every dog is different, and I believe grooming should be about more than simply making a pup look cute. I strive to make every appointment a positive, comfortable experience while giving each dog the individual care and attention they deserve.

I’m trained in breed-specific grooming and love bringing out the classic look of each breed, from Schnauzer trims to Cocker Spaniel and Bichon styles. I’m also happy to create a custom cut that fits your dog’s lifestyle, whether you prefer a traditional breed look or something short and easy to maintain. My favorite breeds to groom are Doodles and Poodles because I enjoy making them look so cute and round!

When I’m not grooming, you’ll find me at home with my three dogs, Lilly, Boone, and Little Mama! We enjoy sitting outside or snuggling on the couch with a good movie on.

I’m so excited to bring my experience, creativity, and love for dogs to the Fayetteville community. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry family members!

Call (910) 426-5700 to book your appointment!

Katelyn, groomer at Dog Days Inn.

Grooming FAQs

Grooming Services

A full groom typically includes a bath, blow dry, brush out, haircut or trim, nail trim, ear cleaning, paw pad and sanitary trim, and a spritz of cologne. Every groom is customized to your dog’s coat, breed, lifestyle, and your preferences. If you’d rather skip the cologne, just let us know at check-in.

Additional services include deshedding treatments, dematting, nail grinding, specialty shampoos, teeth brushing, and other add-ons depending on your dog’s needs. We’re happy to talk through options for your pup at check-in.

A deshedding treatment removes the loose undercoat your dog is naturally getting ready to shed. It can significantly reduce the amount of hair around your home, but it won’t stop shedding completely. Regular brushing and professional grooming help keep shedding under control.

Yes! Puppies must be at least 16 weeks old and have completed at least their second round of puppy vaccinations. Please bring their vaccination records to the appointment. Puppy grooming is a great way to help your pup get comfortable with the process early. Puppy appointments focus on creating a positive experience while gently introducing them to bathing, drying, brushing, nail trims, and the different sounds of grooming equipment.

It depends on your dog’s breed, coat, haircut, and lifestyle. Dogs with continuously growing coats, such as Poodles and Doodles, often benefit from grooming every 4–8 weeks. Shorter-coated dogs may need less frequent grooming. We’re happy to help you create a grooming schedule that works for your dog!

Haircuts & Coat Care

Absolutely! Reference photos are always welcome and very helpful in understanding the look you’re going for. However, every dog’s coat, body shape, texture, and condition are different, so the finished haircut may not look exactly like the photo. We’ll do our best to create a similar style that works beautifully for your dog.

Yes! Longer styles are possible as long as the coat is healthy, well maintained, and free of matting. Longer hair requires more brushing at home to prevent tangles and mats. We can recommend a length that looks great while still being manageable for you and your pup.

Double-coated breeds generally shouldn’t be shaved unless there’s a specific reason, such as severe matting or a veterinary recommendation. Shaving doesn’t necessarily keep these dogs cooler and can affect how their coat grows back. Instead, we can help with bathing, blow-outs, brushing, and deshedding to remove loose undercoat and keep the coat healthy.

Severe matting can be uncomfortable and can pull tightly on the skin. In some cases, the safest and most humane option is to remove the matted coat rather than trying to brush it out. If your dog needs to be shaved shorter than expected, we’ll talk with you before going ahead. Dematting and shave-downs may carry an additional charge. Your dog’s comfort and safety always come first!

Before Your Appointment

Dogs need to be current on Rabies, Distemper (your records may show this as DHPP, DHLPP, DAPP, or a similar combo, on your vet’s 1- or 3-year schedule), Bordetella, and Canine Influenza. Two of these catch people off guard:

  • Bordetella: We need it given within the last 6 months, even if your vet labeled the dose as a 1-year vaccine. Dogs are in close quarters throughout the day here, so we hold every dog to the 6-month version. Check the date on your dog’s last Bordetella rather than whether your vet considers it current.
  • Canine Influenza: This is its own vaccine, not the parainfluenza already included in the Distemper combo. Vets don’t always give it automatically, so you’ll usually need to ask for it by name.

Records are due at drop-off. You’re welcome to send them ahead to dogdaysinnpetcare@gmail.com or dogdaysinn@yahoo.com, or have your vet’s office send them over. Honestly, we’d rather catch a missing Bordetella a week out than have you find out at the door. For puppies, see “Do you groom puppies?” above.

Please make sure your dog has had a chance to use the bathroom before arriving. Avoid scheduling strenuous activities right before grooming, and let us know about any medical conditions, medications, allergies, skin problems, or behavioral concerns. Most importantly, please tell us anything that may help us make your dog more comfortable.

A normal meal is generally fine, but it’s best to avoid feeding a large meal right before grooming. Some dogs can become nauseous or uncomfortable during bathing, drying, or handling. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, we recommend feeding a lighter meal a few hours before the appointment.

Grooming times vary depending on your dog’s size, coat, haircut, temperament, and the services being performed. We’ll give you an estimated pick-up time when possible, but grooming is never a rushed process. We want to make sure your dog is comfortable and gets the attention they deserve!

Your Dog’s Health & Comfort

We look at your dog’s overall coat condition, skin, nails, ears, and any areas that may need extra care. We also take your dog’s temperament and comfort level into consideration. If we notice anything unusual or anything that may affect the groom, we’ll discuss it with you.

Please be honest with us about your dog’s behavior. We’d much rather know ahead of time! We work with dogs at all comfort levels and do our best to keep grooming calm and positive. If a dog becomes extremely stressed, fearful, or unsafe to handle, we may need to modify or stop the service for their safety and the safety of our staff.

Please let us know if you suspect your dog has fleas or ticks. At this time, we aren’t able to treat fleas or ticks in our salon, so we recommend seeing your vet for treatment first. To protect the other pets in our care, any dog found with fleas or ticks at check-in won’t be able to stay for their appointment. If we discover fleas or ticks during your dog’s visit, we’ll call you right away, and your dog will need to be picked up as soon as possible. Because of the extra handling and sanitizing this requires, a fee of $15 will apply. We’re happy to reschedule once your pup is flea- and tick-free!

Please let us know about any medical conditions, medications, allergies, recent surgeries, or skin problems before grooming. Groomers are not veterinarians, and we may recommend contacting your vet if we believe something needs medical attention. We’ll always take your dog’s condition and comfort into consideration during their appointment.

Pricing

Yes! We can give you an estimate based on your dog’s size, coat condition, haircut, and requested services. The final price may change if we find significant matting or excessive shedding, if fleas or ticks are found (see “What if my dog has fleas or ticks?”), or if add-ons are requested at drop-off. We’ll always contact you before doing any extra work that changes the price.

Grooming prices are based on more than just size. Coat type, density, length, matting, brushing time, drying time, and the amount of work required can all affect the price. A thick or curly coat can take significantly longer to properly bathe, dry, brush, and style than a short or smooth coat of the same size.

After Your Appointment

Your biggest job is brushing! Regular brushing helps prevent painful mats and keeps your dog’s coat healthy between appointments. Ask us which brush and technique are best for your dog’s coat. Keeping up with brushing at home will make future grooming appointments easier and more comfortable for your pup!

Consistent grooming helps keep your dog comfortable and their coat and skin healthy. Every dog is different, and their grooming needs can change based on their coat, lifestyle, age, and overall condition. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. We’re here to help you understand what your dog needs and find a grooming routine that works for both you and your pup.
