Boarding FAQ’s
Boarding starts at $35/night for small to medium dogs, $40/night for medium to large dogs, and $45/night for extra large dogs. A second dog sharing a kennel gets a discount. Cats start at $20 per night with the second cat in the same kennel getting a discount as well.
Yes — a 10% discount for Military, Teachers, First Responders, and Senior Citizens. Also, if your pet stays more than 14 nights in a row you will receive a 30% discount. Note: Discounts are not stackable.
We don’t require a deposit for standard bookings. For reservations over major holidays — New Year’s, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas — a deposit equal to three nights is required to confirm your reservation dates, along with a signed holiday boarding consent form:
- Medium kennel (3′ x 5′): $105
- Large kennel (5′ x 5′): $120
- Extra large kennel (5′ x 10′): $135
- Cats: $60
Both your cancellation window and our recommended vaccination deadline are tied to the same date: 3 days before your boarding start date.
- Cancel more than 3 days out, and your deposit is refunded in full.
- We recommend sending your pet’s vaccination records (Bordetella, Rabies, Distemper, and Canine Influenza for dogs; Feline Leukemia and Rabies for cats) to us by that same 3-day mark. This gives us time to review your records and let you know if anything is missing, so you have a chance to get it taken care of before your pet’s stay. As long as we have complete, up-to-date records before drop-off, your pet is welcome to stay.
The remaining balance is due at check-out, and your checkout date is confirmed at drop-off — no refunds are given for early checkout once that date is set.

Yes, in most cases. New dogs over 12 pounds need a boarding assessment before their first stay, unless they’ve already been coming to daycare with us — in that case we already know them. All cats need one as well, and assessments are free.
What to bring: current vaccination records, before the assessment rather than just before the boarding stay. Send them ahead of time or bring them with you at drop-off. See exactly what we require.
Unlike a daycare trial, this isn’t about group play — it’s about giving your pet a chance to experience the actual boarding environment (their kennel area, the sounds, the routine) before their real stay, so it’s not their first time experiencing it while you’re away. It also gives our staff a chance to get to know your pet’s individual temperament and how they respond to our team. Since we don’t have breed restrictions, this step matters — we want to understand each animal as an individual rather than assuming anything based on breed.
We take boarding assessments seriously because your dog’s safety and comfort matter to us, and so does our team’s ability to care for them properly. Your dog stays with us for most of the day so two different staff shifts — not just one person — each get a chance to meet, handle, and observe them. We’re watching for a few specific things: how comfortable they are being approached and handled, whether they settle into their kennel and the new environment without becoming distressed, and how they respond to being around different staff members.
If we have any concerns during the assessment, we’ll call you directly to talk it through — we don’t just make a silent decision on your behalf. In some cases, we can tell very quickly that boarding isn’t the right fit for a particular dog, and we’ll be upfront with you about that rather than take on a stay we don’t feel confident we can handle safely and well. Our goal is honesty, even when that means recommending you look elsewhere.
Boarding assessments are free and available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday only. Drop-off is between 7:00–8:15 AM, with pick-up between 4:00–6:00 PM. Assessments must be scheduled in advance, so we recommend booking yours as early as possible — especially if you have an upcoming boarding reservation, since your pet needs to complete the assessment before their stay begins.
Dogs need to be current on Rabies, Distemper (your records may show this as DHPP, DHLPP, DAPP, or a similar combo, on your vet’s 1- or 3-year schedule), Bordetella, and Canine Influenza. Two of these catch people off guard:
- Bordetella — we need it given within the last 6 months, even if your vet labeled the dose as a 1-year vaccine. Some vets offer it either way, and we hold every dog to the 6-month version because of how closely dogs are housed here. So check the date on your dog’s last Bordetella rather than whether your vet considers it current.
- Canine Influenza — this one is its own vaccine, not the parainfluenza already tucked into the Distemper combo. Vets don’t always give it automatically, so you’ll usually need to ask for it by name.
Cats need Rabies and Feline Leukemia.
Records are due at drop-off. You’re welcome to send them ahead to dogdaysinnpetcare@gmail.com or dogdaysinn@yahoo.com, or have your vet’s office send them over — and honestly, we’d rather catch a missing Bordetella a week out than have you find out at the door.
Please bring your pet’s food for the length of their stay, along with any blankets, toys, or comfort items that will help them feel at home. If your pet takes medication, please bring that as well, clearly labeled with dosing instructions.

Yes, that is what we call day boarding. It is $20 per day.
Your animal rests inside a climate control facility. Dogs go outside for potty breaks throughout the day. Cats are provided with a litter box filled with litter included in the boarding price for them.
Yes, dogs and cats are housed in separate areas of our facility.
Yes, pets from the same household can share a kennel, with a couple of exceptions: we can’t house two unneutered males together, or an unneutered male with an unspayed female. Please also let us know in advance if your pets can’t be fed in the same space, so we can plan accordingly.
Yes, we’re happy to give oral medications during your pet’s stay. We’re not able to administer injectable medications, such as insulin shots.
Yes, however unfixed dogs over 6–8 months of age for males and 6 months for females are not eligible for group play. There is an additional cost of $6 per session Monday through Friday, and an automatic $12 per day on Saturday and Sunday. If your dog has not yet played in our groups, there will be a $25 trial fee.
