Bathing FAQs
Bath Services
A bath with our basic shampoo, followed by a towel dry and air dry. It’s a quick, no-frills refresh for pups who just need to get clean.
Primp & Go is a quick bath and towel dry done by our kennel staff. Best in Show is a full bath package with our groomer, Katelyn, and includes shampoo and conditioner, a blow-dry and brush-out, a nail trim, ear cleaning, cologne, and a bandana or bow. If your dog needs a little more pampering, see our Grooming page.
A Primp & Go bath is towel-dried and air-dried, so there’s no dryer involved at all. If you’d like your pup to get the full fluffy finish, our groomer, Katelyn, is experienced with nervous dogs and can work at your dog’s pace to help them get more comfortable with the dryer over time. Either way, let us know about any fears or sensitivities when you drop off.
Yes! Our staff can trim or grind nails, no appointment needed. If you’re booking a groom with Katelyn, a nail trim is already included in every grooming package.
Our staff can’t remove mats during a bath. Bathing a matted coat can actually tighten the mats and make them more uncomfortable. If your dog has matting, we recommend booking with our groomer, who can safely dematt or shave down the coat.
Booking & Pricing
No appointment is needed, but we can’t always guarantee a same-day bath. How many baths we can take on any given day depends on our staffing and how many dogs are in our care. Give us a call at (910) 426-5700 to check availability before heading over.
Yes! Just let us know at drop-off, and we’ll take care of it during their stay so you’re not making a second trip. Many daycare families schedule a bath on their pup’s last daycare day of the week, and boarding families often book one on the last day of the stay so their dog comes home fresh.
Pricing is based on your dog’s size and coat type. Use the table above to find the closest match for your dog. Mixes and unlisted breeds are priced by their closest match, and you can always call us for an exact quote.
Before Your Visit
Dogs need to be current on Rabies, Distemper (your records may show this as DHPP, DHLPP, DAPP, or a similar combo, on your vet’s 1- or 3-year schedule), Bordetella, and Canine Influenza. Two of these catch people off guard:
- Bordetella: We need it given within the last 6 months, even if your vet labeled the dose as a 1-year vaccine. Dogs are in close quarters throughout the day here, so we hold every dog to the 6-month version. Check the date on your dog’s last Bordetella rather than whether your vet considers it current.
- Canine Influenza: This is its own vaccine, not the parainfluenza already included in the Distemper combo. Vets don’t always give it automatically, so you’ll usually need to ask for it by name.
Records are due at drop-off. You’re welcome to send them ahead to dogdaysinnpetcare@gmail.com or dogdaysinn@yahoo.com, or have your vet’s office send them over. Honestly, we’d rather catch a missing Bordetella a week out than have you find out at the door.
Please let us know if you suspect your dog has fleas or ticks. At this time, we aren’t able to treat fleas or ticks, so we recommend seeing your vet for treatment first. To protect the other pets in our care, any dog found with fleas or ticks at check-in won’t be able to stay for their bath. If we discover fleas or ticks during your dog’s visit, we’ll call you right away, and your dog will need to be picked up as soon as possible. Because of the extra handling and sanitizing this requires, a fee of $15 will apply. We’re happy to reschedule once your pup is flea- and tick-free!
